Outdoor temperature
data is transmitted to the 1528 main unit by the included 1536 remote
sensor/transmitter, and the main unit can work with up to three of
these remotes. When equipped with lithium batteries, the 1536 can operate
down to -40°F. The 1536 has its own temperature display for local viewing,
and you can select °F or °C for the display on both the 1528 and 1536 by pushing a button on each unit.
This station
has a minimum/maximum memory for indoor temperature and all outdoor temperatures.
Its integral atomic clock has two daily alarms with snooze. The 1528 main unit and the
1536 remote can each be wall-mounted
or free-standing.
The 1528 wireless forecast station's LCD panel is
3-1/2 inches high by 4 inches wide. The hour and minutes digits are
bold and about 1/2 of an inch tall, while seconds are around 1/3 of an inch. The month
and date are around 1/4 of an inch. Indoor and Outdoor temperature and
humidity digits are slightly over 1/2 of an inch tall.
The
1528 predicts
the weather 12 or 24 hours in advance based on barometric pressure changes. One
of five animated forecast icons is displayed: Sunny, Becoming Cloudy,
Cloudy, Rain, and Snow. A barometric pressure trend arrow (rising, steady, or falling) is displayed to the
right of the forecast icon above the pressure-change history bar graph.
The 1528 also monitors
and displays the indoor temperature and relative humidity, as well as the
outdoor temperature and relative humidity, reported by the included 1536 wireless
sensor at an outdoor or other remote location.
The indoor and outdoor humidity is displayed in %, and temperatures can be displayed
in either °F or °C, as selected. The 1528 actually has a total of
eight control pushbuttons. Seven are on the
back of the case, and one is on the top.
The integral memory in the 1528 records
maximum and minimum indoor temperature and humidity values, plus maximum
and minimum outdoor temperature and humidity values for all remotes in use These values
are available for display during normal operation by momentarily
depressing the MIN/MAX button. Minimum and
maximum temperatures and humidity are stored and updated until the memory
is reset by pressing and holding the MIN/MAX button.
The 1528 forecast station uses the Taylor
1536 Digital Wireless Remote Sensor. One 1536 is included, and the 1528 actually works with up to three
1536's. Additional remote sensors are sold separately. The 1536 should be mounted in a sheltered location where direct precipitation cannot fall
on it. Although this remote is splash-resistant, it is not
waterproof.
Indoor temperature measuring range of the 1528
is +14°F to +158°F (-10°C to +70°C). Outdoor/remote temperature
measuring range is +14° to 158°F x 0.1° (-10° to 70°C x 0.1°) with alkaline batteries in
remote . Using lithium
batteries in the 1536 extends its low temperature-measuring-limit to -40°
to 158°F.
The atomic clock
can be displayed in 12 or 24 hour mode. The 1528's clock also has
two daily alarms, each of which sounds with a 2-minute crescendo pattern
and has an available 5-minute snooze function. Alarm 1 and 2 bell icons
are displayed above clock minutes when the alarms are activated, and the
SNOOZE button is located on the top of the case.
The 1528 main unit can be powered using the
included AC adaptor or by two A AA (1.5V) alkaline batteries, and the 1536
remote is also powered by two AAA (1.5V) alkaline
batteries. These are not included and must be obtained separately.
Expected battery life is 1 year. If the 1536 remote will be used in
sub-freezing temperatures, lithium AAA batteries are recommended instead of
alkaline.
On the back of the 1528 and on the1536's
mounting bracket are a
keyhole slot for wall mounting and an integral folding table stand. Wall
anchors and wall-mounting screws for both units are included.
