Timex Expedition watches make up a large portion of the Timex Outdoor watch line. Within this line are several groups, or families, of watches, each with a specific feature complement. The Timex Expedition T47791 Analog Men's Watch is a member of the Aluminum Trail family of watches. These rugged watches feature lightweight cases of anodized aluminum. And while this watch is definitely built for outdoor use, it is not oversize or radically styled. Some might even say that its styling is on the conservative side. The T47791's comfortable, padded nylon strap with snap-in resin closure is continuously adjustable and fits a wide range of wrist sizes.

The case of the T47791 watch is anodized aluminum with a black finish. A fixed, matte silver-gray metal bezel with 24-hour numbering surrounds the face. The face itself is medium-dark gray with white hour numbers at 6, 9, and 12, a date window at the 3 o'clock position, and graphic hour markers elsewhere. The hour and minute hands and the graphic hour markers are polished silver-tone metal with white luminescent centers, and the second hand is also polished silver-tone metal. The crystal is flat except for a raised magnifier portion above the date window. The strap is mostly black padded nylon with "TIMEX" and "EXPEDITION" embroidered in medium blue and separated by the Expedition logo. Only a small portion of this embroidery (one letter width) is visible above the watch case where the black resin snap-in closure is located. The back of the case is stainless steel.

Pressing the T47791's crown lights the bright blue INDIGLO^® electro-luminescent night light for as long as the crown is depressed. The night light illuminates the entire face evenly so that you can see all three hands clearly.

The T47791 watch has a convenient QUICK-DATE^® feature that allows you to set the date independently of the time. To set the date, you pull the 3-position crown out to its middle position and turn the crown counterclockwise. To set the time, you pull the crown all the way out and turn it either direction. To use the watch's night light, the crown must be in its innermost position for normal timekeeping.

Watch is water-resistant to 50 meters (165 feet) if crown is not pulled out or pressed when submerged.
Powered by one CR2016 battery. Expected battery life is 10 years under normal operating conditions (no excessive night light use).
