5807 Taylor Classic Large Digit
Timer/Clock |
|
|
The 5807 Taylor Classic Large Digit Timer/Clock
is a small digital timer
and clock with a large display. In addition to
indicating the time in clock mode, the 5807 can count up or down in either
of two user-selectable timer modes, hr:min or min:sec.
Taylor calls this "double:time™ 2 in 1 technology." In
hr:min mode, the 5807 counts up to or down from 19 hours 59
minutes. In min:sec mode, the timer counts up to or down from 99
minutes 59 seconds. Use this timer in the kitchen,
lab, laundry, darkroom, or wherever. At almost 0.7 inch tall, the minutes and seconds digits are
easy to read from a distance.

Just 2-3/4 inches wide
by 1-7/8 inches high, the 5807 Big Digit Timer and Clock is white with
a silver-tone bezel around the display and five gray control
pushbuttons. Most folks should have no trouble at all reading the
4-digit display because the numbers are 11/16 inch tall.

The digital quartz clock in the 5807 displays
the time as hour and minutes in 12-hour format with AM or PM. To set the
clock, you simply move a three-position switch on the back of the timer to
CLOCK SET and then use the H/M and M/S buttons on the front to set the
hour and minutes, respectively. During clock setting, if you want to reset
the time to 12:00 AM, press the C (clear) button on the front. After you
set the time, you move the switch on the back of the timer to either HM or
MS, depending on which timing mode you want. Then, to switch between clock
and timer functionality in normal operation, you press the TIMER and CLOCK
buttons on the front of the unit.
To use the timer as a count-up (elapsed
time) timer, you clear the display so that it reads 00:00 and then press
the START/STOP button on the timer's left side. Depending on the selected
timing mode, the timer will count up to a maximum of 19 hours 59 minutes
in 1-minute increments or 99 minutes 59 seconds in 1-second increments.
To use the timer as a countdown timer (for example, when
cooking), you use the H/M and M/S buttons to set either hours and minutes
or minutes and seconds, depending on the selected timing mode. You then
press START/STOP, and the countdown begins in either 1-minute or 1-second
increments, depending on mode. You can temporarily stop and then restart the timer by pressing
the START/STOP button. When the countdown reaches zero and the timer
beeps, pressing START/STOP to stop the beeping also recalls the last set
time, which appears in the display.
When the timer is operating, an up or down
arrow in the display indicates whether count-up or countdown timing is in
effect. If there is no activity for 1 minute after the timer expires, the
5807 automatically switches to the clock display.
Just so you know, the front of the 5807's
package indicates "Large 0.8" LCD Readout." This
is the height of the LCD panel itself, not the digits in it.
On the back of the 5807
timer is a 3-way holder. When the holder is used as a spring clip, you can
attach the timer to, for example, a shirt pocket, waistband, or apron. You can
also flip out a metal bar to extend the clip, which lets you stand the
timer at an angle on a flat surface. On the back of the clip itself is a
magnet that can hold the timer to an iron or steel surface, such as a
range hood or refrigerator door.
The simple styling and neutral colors of
the Taylor 5807 timer-clock will fit in with almost any
kitchen decor. This timer runs on one AAA (1.5V) battery, which is included
and preinstalled. All you need to do to power up the 5807 is remove the battery
compartment cover, remove the insulating strip that prevents battery drain
during shipping, and then replace the cover. The 5807 is covered by a
Taylor 1-year limited warranty.
