Precision-built in Germany, the Taylor 5565 Industrial Hygrometer/Thermometer is a dial-type indoor thermo-hygrometer that shows the relative humidity (RH) in percent on its large scale and the temperature in °F and °C on its smaller scales. The hygrometer in the Taylor 5565 uses a synthetic hair movement, and the thermometer is the bimetallic spiral type. Great care is taken in selection and quality control of the bimetallic springs. The hygrometer and thermometer operate to close tolerances and are tested before the 5565 leaves the factory. If, after years of service, the effects of the surrounding air on the synthetic hair or slight fatigue of the bimetallic spiral makes recalibration necessary, this can be done for both the hygrometer and thermometer. The instructions supplied with the 5565 explain this in detail.

The hygrometer scale ranges from 0% to 580 RH. It has numbers at 10% intervals and markers at 1% intervals. The Fahrenheit temperature scale ranges from 14°F to 130°F. It has numbers at 10° intervals (starting at 10°F) and markers at 2° intervals. The Celsius temperature scale ranges from -15°C to +55°C. It has numbers at 10° intervals (starting at -10°C) and markers at 1° intervals.

If the hygrometer is exposed to extremely dry or extremely humid conditions for a long time, you can maximize the hygrometer's accuracy by periodically exposing it to the other extreme for 12 to 24 hours. Again, this is explained in detail in the instructions.

As mentioned above, the Taylor 5565 is designed for indoor use only. On the back of the case near the top is a slot for hanging the unit on a wall or other vertical surface. You'll need to supply the screw or nail on which the 5565 will hang. The 5565 also has three feet on the back of its case so that it can also rest on a horizontal surface. Be sure to locate the 5565 where it cannot receive direct or reflected sunlight. Also, don't hang it on a wall that's heated or in the path of heated air from a register or other source.
