1462 Jumbo Digital Wireless Weather System (In/Out Thermometer,
Indoor Hygrometer, Weather Forecaster, and Dual Time Calendar Clock with
Two Alarms) |
|
|
The
Taylor 1462 Jumbo Digital Wireless Weather System features a large
four-line LCD panel for easy viewing. In the upper two lines are displayed
the time, month, date, weekday, and (if activated) alarm-on icons. In the
lower two lines are displayed an animated weather forecast, the indoor
temperature and humidity, and the outdoor temperature along with trend
arrows for barometric pressure, indoor and outdoor temperatures, and
indoor humidity. Outdoor temperature
data is transmitted to the 1462 main unit by the included 1457 remote
sensor/transmitter, and the main unit can work with up to three of
these remotes. When equipped with lithium batteries, the 1457 can operate
down to
-40°F/C. The 1457 has its own temperature display for local viewing,
and you can select °F or °C for the display on both the 1462 and 1457 by pushing a button on each unit.
This wireless weather forecast station
has a minimum/maximum memory for indoor temperature and humidity and all outdoor temperatures.
Its integral dual time clock has two daily alarms with snooze. The 1462 main unit and the 1457 remote can each be wall-mounted
or free-standing.

The
Taylor 1462 Digital Wireless Weather System is silver with
black trim on both sides of its LCD panel. Along with time,
month, date, and weekday, the 1462 displays an
animated 12-hour weather forecast, outdoor temperature,
indoor temperature, and indoor humidity.
Trend arrows are displayed for barometric pressure, all
temperature readings, and indoor humidity. One 1457 outdoor temperature remote is
included, and the 1462 works with up to three of these
remotes. The 1462 has a min/max memory for indoor
and all outdoor temperatures and indoor humidity. The
integral digital clock displays local or world time and has
two daily alarms. Hang the 1462 on your wall, or fold out the
integral stand and place it on a shelf, table, or desk.

The 1462 wireless forecast station's LCD panel is
3-1/2 inches high by 5-3/4 inches wide. The hour and minutes digits are
bold and 1-7/8 inches tall, while seconds are 7/8 inch. The digital month
and date are 5/8 inch and 3/4 inch, respectively, with a smaller
three-letter weekday abbreviation below the month. Outdoor temperature
digits are 1-3/16 inch tall (degree tenths are smaller at 5/8 inch).
Indoor temperature and humidity digits are 9/16 inch tall (degree tenths
are 5/16 inch).
The 1462 predicts
the weather 12 hours in advance based on barometric pressure changes. One
of five animated forecast icons is displayed: Sunny, Partly Sunny, Cloudy,
Rainy (which predicts snowy when it's cold), or Stormy. A barometric pressure trend arrow
for the past hour (rising, steady, or falling) is displayed to the left of the forecast icon.
The 1462 also monitors
and displays the indoor temperature and relative humidity and, as
measured and reported by the included 1457 wireless sensor, the
temperature at an outdoor or other remote location. Trend arrows for the
past hour are
displayed with all temperature readings and the indoor humidity reading.
The indoor humidity is displayed in %, and temperatures can be displayed
in either °F or °C, as selected (during normal operation) by
depressing the MODE pushbutton on the back of the case for 3 seconds. The
1462 actually has a total of eight control pushbuttons. Seven are on the
back of the case, and one is on the top.
The integral memory in the 1462 records
maximum and minimum indoor temperature and humidity values plus maximum
and minimum outdoor temperature values for all remotes in use These values
are available for display during normal operation by momentarily
depressing the MODE button. Minimum and
maximum temperatures and humidity are stored and updated until the memory
is reset by pressing the CLEAR button.
The 1462 forecast station uses the Taylor 1457
Digital Wireless Remote Sensor. One 1457 is included, and the 1462
actually works with up to three 1457s. Additional remote sensors are sold separately. The
1457 is a displaying remote that comes with a temperature probe on a
detachable 11-foot (3.3-meter) cable. The probe is ideal for measuring the
temperature in a swimming pool, hot tub, or aquarium and also in soil.
Another use for the probe is in extremely cold conditions, in which case
you bring the remote inside and extend the probe outside (by hanging it
out of a window, for example). The 1457 should be mounted in a sheltered location where direct precipitation cannot fall
on it. Although this remote is splash-resistant, it is not
waterproof.
Indoor temperature measuring range of the
1462 is +23°F to +122°F (-5°C to +50°C). Outdoor/remote temperature
measuring range is -4°F to +140°F (-20°C to +60°C). Using lithium
batteries in the 1457 extends its low temperature measuring limit to
-40°F (-40°C). With the probe attached, the 1457's low temperature
measuring limit is further extended to -58°F (-50°C).
The world time clock in the 1462 is a
digital quartz clock (not atomic, but still highly accurate). This clock
can display local time and hour-offset world time (GMT or +/- 12 hours).
You toggle between local and world time during normal operation by
pressing the SET/ZONE button on the back of the case. The 1462's clock also has
two daily alarms, each of which sounds with a 2-minute crescendo pattern
and has an available 5-minute snooze function. Alarm 1 and 2 bell icons
are displayed above clock seconds when the alarms are activated, and the
SNOOZE button is located on the top of the case.
The 1462 main unit and the 1457 remote are
each powered by two AA (1.5V) alkaline
batteries. These are not included and must be obtained separately.
Expected battery life is 1 year. If the 1457 remote will be used in
sub-freezing temperatures, lithium AA batteries are recommended instead of
alkaline.
On the back of the 1462 and on the1457's
mounting bracket are a
keyhole slot for wall mounting and an integral folding table stand. Wall
anchors and wall-mounting screws for both units are included.
If you're in need of a highly readable wireless
weather forecast station, you'll find the Taylor 1462 to be both handsome and value-priced. Not only can it display temperatures in °F or °C, it
also has a min/max memory for indoor and all outdoor/remote temperatures
and indoor humidity. Plus, it has a world time clock with dual alarms and
snooze. The 1462 is ideal for any room in the house and for monitoring the
temperature in your baby's room, wine cellar, greenhouse, garage, garden,
hot tub, swimming pool, aquarium, or wherever. This product comes with a
Taylor 1-year limited warranty.
