One of four compact digital pedometers in Oregon Scientific's Fitness line of equipment, the PE319 combines its several pedometer functions with a piercing 120-decibel panic alarm for use if danger threatens, a calorie counter, and a real-time clock.

The pedometer's LCD display is easy to read and features a brilliant blue HiGlo™ backlight for low-light conditions. And you can set the real-time digital clock for either 12- or 24-hour operation, as desired.

The PE319 has three operating modes. STEP measures the number of steps you take. DIST/TIMER measures the distance you cover and indicates the elapsed time. CAL/TIMER measures the calories you expend and indicates the elapsed time. (You pre-enter your stride length and body weight in either the DIST/TIMER or CAL/TIMER mode.) The pedometer uses two LR43 1.5V batteries and one 12V alkaline battery, which are all included.

Note 1: This is the "Imperial" version of the PE319, which means that you set your stride length in inches and body weight in pounds, and you view your distance traveled in miles and tenths.

Note 2: Oregon Scientific's three other pedometers are the PE316FM with FM radio and "button" earphones, the PE316PM with pulse meter and calorie counter, and the PE316CA with calorie counter (no pulse meter or count-up timer).
