Indoor Outdoor ThermometersWe've got a broad selection of indoor outdoor
thermometers. Most of these indoor outdoor thermometers are wireless. These thermometers use a transmitter which transmits temperature
information, and is placed outdoors. Some of these sets allow the addition
of additional transmitters for monitoring additional locations, as well as pool
temperature, hot tub temperature, the baby's room, the wine cellar, you name
it. Placement of the transmitter is critical for accuracy. The
receiver is kept indoors. Most wireless indoor outdoor thermometers have a
range of 100 feet with nothing in between the transmitter and receiver, and
little electrical interference. Passing through walls will reduce this

The La Crosse Technology TX6U does not have a display of it’s own. In harsh climates, the alkaline batteries in the TX6U may be replaced with Lithium batteries for extended low temperature operation.

The Taylor 1436 may be used for a replacement for the primary sender on these models, or may be used as an additional remote if the main unit has multi-remote capability.

The Taylor 1438 may be used with the 2751 or 2752 for additional temperature or temperature and humidity locations. The 1438 remote can be wall-mounted or free-standing.

The 1439 may be used as an exact replacement for the Taylor 1497.The Taylor 1439 may also be used with the 1453, 1456, 1462 and 1463 as the primary sender, or may be used as an additional remote if the main unit has multi-remote capability. The Taylor 1439 may be used with the 1458, 1506, 1507, 2751 or 2752 for additional temperature only locations.

Placement of the remote is critical. The
remote sender will not be accurate if the sun is shining on it directly.
The sun will warm it. For this reason, units with a white or silver remote
may be less affected by sunlight. Less obvious, if the remote is mounted
high on an outdoor wall under the eaves for shade, the sun may shine on the
wall, heating the wall, which will heat the air against the wall, which can then
rise and heat the sensor. This problem is more significant with dark
colored walls. The range of most of these units is 100 feet in open air,
although some are capable of 300 feet. Wood or brick outside walls, and
each interior wall will reduce the range by around 20 feet, more or less,
depending on the construction. Steel walls, or steel in the walls, like
heating ducts, will reduce range much more. Electrical interference from
computers, cordless phones, lamp dimmers and other electronics can interfere
also. If you have a problem, try putting the remote next to the receiver,
inside an empty coffee can if necessary (to block interference) until they
sync. Then move the remote progressively farther away, or try different
locations for the receiver. You may find that you have a receiver location
that is bad because of metal in a wall between the transmitter and the receiver,
or another electronic device causing interference. |
