First Alert IC-9W Indoor Extension Cord, White, 3 Outlet, 2 Conductor, 16 Gauge

At first, the First Alert IC-9W White, 9 foot extension cord looks like any other extension cord. But look again. Leave it to First Alert to come up with a better extension cord. First of all, the wire in this cord is not the usual cheap, 18 gauge wire.  This cord is made from heavier 16 gauge wire to safely handle more current, up to 13 amps (1625 watts), and to reduce electrical loss.  The plug end has a molded in strain relief to prevent tight bends which can cause insulation cracking, short circuits, and eventually a fire hazard in other cords.  The outlet end has sliding outlet covers to keep children, pets, and extraneous conductive material out of the outlets.  This is a polarized cord set, with one blade of the plug wider than the other to reduce the chance of getting a shock from faulty electrical devices.  Most importantly, this cord has been tested for safety and approved by Underwriter's Laboratories.
