PT014
Weather Station Alarm Clock
with Barometer,
Thermometer and Hygrometer
|
|
| The PT014 Weather Station Alarm Clock
is a quartz-controlled clock with a
virtually silent sweep second hand plus a thermometer, barometer, and
hygrometer. This time and weather
station features clean, modern styling and a very modest price. We think it
looks like it should cost a lot more that it does. At almost 3.5 inches wide and
about 8 inches tall,
the PT014 will look great on a table, shelf, or desktop in your home
and in
your office.

The PT014 has a silver plastic case with a black
plastic front panel and top. The instrument faces are white with black
numerals and markers. Unlike most analog quartz clocks, this one
has a sweep second hand that's virtually silent (no ticking sound). It's a
nice feature, especially on an instrument that's priced so
reasonably. |

This Weather
Station has an analog quartz movement with a silent sweep
second hand and
a daily alarm. To set up the clock, you simply open the battery
compartment on the back of the clock, insert a AA battery
(alkaline recommended), and use the small
knurled knob to set the time and the alarm time. (Pull the
button out to set the time, and push it in to set the alarm.) To turn the
alarm on, set the slide switch to ON. When the alarm sounds, set
the switch back to OFF.
As you can see in the photo, this
product is designed with plenty of room on the base for
printing a company logo, a promotional or advertising message,
or anything else you may want. An extremely reasonable price
makes this weather station clock a perfect corporate promotional item or gift
for special clients and employees. Important
Information About the Barometer: The
barometer dial on the PT014 indicates the air pressure in two
different metric units. The outer scale is numbered in multiples
of 10 hectopascals (hPa x 10). A reading of 101, for example,
actually indicates 1010 hectopascals. The inner scale is
numbered in centimeters of mercury (cmHg). To convert to inches
of mercury (inHg), simply divide the reading by 2.54. A reading
of 76 cmHg, for example, converts to 29.92 inHg. Like
all good analog barometers, you can calibrate this one by means
of a screw that's accessible from the back of the unit. Listen to a local weather
broadcast, and if you live in the USA, multiply the pressure (in
inHg) by 2.54 to convert to cmHg. Then use a small screwdriver
to set the pointer appropriately. By the way, the pressure
reading you get on radio or television is always what the
pressure in your area would be at sea-level. The
adjustable brass pointer on the barometer allows you to
determine whether the air pressure is steady, rising, or
falling. Simply turn the knurled knob on the front of the
barometer so that the brass pointer is at the same position as
the black pointer. When you return at a later time, note where
the black pointer is in relation to the brass pointer.
