The Maverick ET-84 Digital Meat Thermometer
actually calculates,
displays, and verbally announces time remaining until the food is done!
When someone asks "When do we eat?", you've got an answer. You
will also know if you have time to run to the store, or when to start
the veggies. Just choose a type of meat, and a doneness level (or
optionally a target temperature). The Maverick ET-84 displays target
temperature in your choice of °F or °C, current temperature, time
elapsed, time remaining, plus a progress bar graph. Time remaining
is calculated based on current temperature, target temperature, and the
measured rate of change. Since it takes a few minutes to determine
the rate of change, the initial estimate is a default value, and
improves as data is collected.

The Maverick ET-84 Voice Alert
Digital Meat Thermometer also has audible alert functionality.
Audible alerts are controlled by a switch on the side of the
Maverick ET-84, and can be set to "Voice", Beep",
or "Off". When set to "Voice", the unit will
make the following announcements, in either English or French as
the cooking time left reaches the following:

30 minutes
remaining: "30 minutes until ready"

20 minutes
remaining: "20 minutes until ready"

10 minutes
remaining: "10 minutes until ready"
-
5 minutes
remaining: "5 minutes until ready"
-
1 minute
remaining: "1 minute until ready"
-
"10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1"
-
"Times
Up" "Your food is done"
If
the switch is set to "Beep", similar alerts are sounded
with beeps. With the switch set to "Off", all audible
alerts are disabled. |

The Maverick ET-84 Digital Meat
Thermometer consists of a display unit, and a probe. The display unit is
about 4 1/2 x 2 5/8 x 3/4 inch. The target temperature and current
temperature are displayed in digits about 5/16 inch tall. The elapsed
time and time remaining are displayed in digits about 3/16 inch tall.
The choice of meat selected and doneness level are displayed by dots by
the appropriate terms on the display.
The probe is stainless steel, with a 52
inch soft, flexible, easily cleaned silicone wire with a temperature
tolerance up to 500 °F. Exposure to temperatures above 480 °F, or open
flames, will likely deteriorate the probe wire.
The required 3 AAA batteries are
included.
Please be aware that the packaging is not
re-closable. Once it is opened, the unit is not returnable.
Non-functional units (a rare occurrence with Maverick products) will be
exchanged after verification, for the first 30 days. Maverick provides a
90 day limited warranty.
