Digital Atomic Wall Clock with Time Display, Month, Date, Day, Daily Alarm with Snooze, and Indoor Temperature

The SkyScan 86742 Atomic Clock by Equity Time is a digital clock whose size is at the small end of medium. Still, it has quite a large display. Hours and minutes appear in bold numbers that are 1-1/4 inches tall. Seconds are indicated by digits 11/16 inch tall. Calendar information and indoor temperature are displayed below the time in characters and digits that are also about 11/16 inch tall. This digital atomic clock can be wall-mounted or free-standing, so it a will work well in a variety of locations where a larger clock would not fit or would look out of place. This clock's package states "Ideal for home, offices, banks, and hotels." As long as the room or space where the clock is mounted isn't huge, we agree entirely.

You'll appreciate the both the absolute accuracy and the convenient features of the 86742 digital atomic clock. The time can be displayed in 12-hour or 24-hour mode. Calendar information is pre-programmed through 2099. The year is displayed only during manual setup, which is optional. Month and date are displayed digitally, and the weekday is displayed as a 2-letter abbreviation in English. If you do set the clock manually, you'll need to set the time, year, month, and date. The weekday abbreviation updates automatically as the date is set.

Successful reception of the time-synchronization radio signal is indicated by a radio waves icon to the right of seconds in the upper section of the display. After synchronization occurs, you can select your continental U.S. time zone (EST, CST, MST, or PST) by means of a switch on the back of the clock.

This clock has a single daily alarm with available snooze. When the alarm is set, an alarm clock icon appears in the upper right corner of the display. When the snooze function is activated, "Zz" appears just below the alarm clock icon. The alarm sounds for 60 seconds. With snooze activated, the alarm repeats every 4 minutes for a total of 4 snooze cycles.

Here are a couple of things to be aware of: The indoor temperature is displayed in °F only. Also, this clock automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time. If you live in an area that does not observe DST (Arizona and parts of Indiana), you'll need to change the time zone to obtain the proper time in the spring and fall. Simply changing the time zone (as opposed to manually resetting the time) does not affect WWVB time-signal synchronization.

On the back of the clock are a keyhole slot for wall mounting and a flip-out stand to use the clock as a free-standing unit.

The 86742 clock has a silver-colored plastic case with a semi-metallic finish. A titanium-colored accent panel with a raised, clear plastic cover surrounds the display. The top and back of the clock's case are black. Because this clock is cleanly and simply styled and neutral in color, it will fit in nicely with a variety of interior decors. The clock is powered by two AA (1.5V) alkaline batteries. Expected battery life is about 1 year.
