The SkyScan 28512 Atomic Clock by Equity Time is an atomic analog clock whose plastic case is a semi-metallic pewter color (darker than silver, lighter than titanium) with a gloss finish. A slender gold-tone bezel surrounding the white face adds a touch of color contrast. The hour numerals and other face markings are black, as are the three hands. The lens is flat, not convex. While the styling of the 28512 is more traditional than modern (check out the hour and minute hands, for example), it is neither fussy nor ornate. The 28512's package indicates "Perfect for Home & Office," and we fully agree. At just over 12 inches in diameter, this radio controlled clock will look great while keeping perfect time in many medium-sized rooms and workspaces.

You'll appreciate the the absolute accuracy and easy setup of the 28512 analog atomic clock. Just insert one AA (1.5V) alkaline battery and set a switch on the back of the clock to select your continental U.S. time zone (EST, CST, MST, or PST). The clock takes it from there. The sequence of events as the clock sets itself is clearly described in the clock's simple instructions. If you live in an area that does not observe Daylight Saving Time (Arizona and parts of Indiana), you can set another switch on the back of the clock to disable automatic DST changes in the spring and fall.

There are also some pushbuttons on the back of the 28512 that you should know about. The REC pushbutton can be pressed to manually initiate a search for the WWVB 60kHz time synchronization radio signal. The M.SET pushbutton can be used to set the clock manually if the WWVB signal cannot be received (for example, if the clock is taken out of WWVB range). There is also a Reset button, but this is for factory use only. Do not press it because doing so may damage your clock (this is noted in the instructions).

If you're looking for a medium-size atomic clock for indoor use in either a home or business setting where classically ornate or starkly modern styling would look out of place, the SkyScan 28512 is an excellent and economical choice.
