The clock's package indicates "Performance Alarm Clock," and this is an apt description. The clock is styled as a low-profile, high-performance tire on a sporty alloy wheel, through which you can see a drilled disc brake rotor and the brake caliper. Behind this is a black clock dial with silver numbers and markings. The three hands are shaped like mechanics' tools, the most obvious being the hex wrench-shaped hour hand. While there's no brand name or logo on the tire sidewall, there is the size: 245/40ZR/18, definitely a serious tire. The 50318 Tire Clock is designed for placement on a nightstand, table, shelf, or the like. It's perfect for use in the home and in automotive-related businesses. Serious gearheads will probably want to put this Tire Clock on their office desks.

The 50318 Tire Desk Clock has an overall diameter of 4 inches and a dial diameter of 2-1/2 inches. It is designed to rest on a flat surface indoors and cannot be wall mounted. An included metal stand bracket that installs on the back of the clock lets it rest at a proper viewing angle. The 50318 uses a highly accurate analog quartz movement. You simply insert one AA (1.5V) battery into the clock and then turn one knob to set the current time and a second knob to set the alarm time. The alarm in the 50318 Tire Desk Clock is a single daily alarm. The packaging indicates "Snooze Alarm," but since there's no Snooze button on the clock, this is apparently a printing error. The battery is not included and must be obtained separately. We recommend an alkaline battery. Although expected battery life is not specified, we believe from our experience with this type of clock that the battery should last a year or more.
