The 02327 Acu-Rite Sun & Moon Clock & Thermometer Combo has an individually sculpted body of heavy resin is hand painted in a natural sand color and has a brick texture. The sun and moon faces, dial markings, and border detail are all in relief. Dial markings, clock hands, and thermometer pointer are black. On the clock dial are Roman numerals about 1 inch tall at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 positions and stars at the other positions. On the thermometer dial are Arabic numbers that indicate temperatures from -40°F to +120°F. Because the 02327 is neutral in color and weather resistant, it can be used in a wide variety of applications, both indoor and outdoor. The body of the Acu-Rite 02327 is 9-3/8 inches wide by 14 inches tall. The sun face thermometer dial is 7-1/2 inches in diameter, while the moon face clock dial is 6-1/2 inches. The temperature digits are almost 3/4 inch tall, and the Roman numerals at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 positions on the clock are just over 1 inch tall.

The clock in the 02327 uses a highly accurate analog quartz movement. You simply insert one AA (1.5V) battery, turn a knob to set the time, and that's all there is to clock setup. The battery is not included and must be obtained separately. We recommend using an alkaline battery. Although expected battery life is not specified, we believe from our experience with this type of clock that the battery should last a year or more.

The 02327 is designed to hang on a wall or other vertical surface. For accurate temperature readings, be sure to mount the instrument in a location where it will not be exposed to direct sunlight or other direct heat sources. Also, if you will be using the 02327 outdoors, select a location where the instrument will be sheltered from direct precipitation.

Note on Using the 02327 Outdoors: When the temperature is expected to fall below freezing, you may want to bring the 02327 indoors. This is because in low temperatures, an alkaline battery may not provide enough current to power the clock motor, in which case the clock will lose its accuracy. If you wish, you may want to try replacing the alkaline battery with a lithium battery and see how the clock operates in the cold. Lithium batteries generally work down to about -40°F/C.
