The Acu-Rite 00937 Wicker Clock & Thermometer Combo is a part of Acu-Rite's Decorative Clocks and Thermometers collection. The 00937's body is woven of real wicker. Its dark brown color is a gray-brown shade rather than a reddish-brown. The clock and thermometer dials are off-white with brown Arabic numbers shaded in black. A detail on the clock dial that helps to give the 00937 a classic look is the logo of Leicester Square Tea, Silk, & Wine Merchants, Established 1659. The clock hands and thermometer pointer are black and, except for the second hand, are teardrop style. The thermometer dial numbers indicate temperatures from -20°F to +120°F at 20° intervals. Because the 00937 is fairly neutral in color and weather resistant, it can be used in a wide variety of applications, both indoor and outdoor. The body of the Acu-Rite 00937 is 12-1/2 inches wide by 22-1/2 inches tall. Each dial is approximately 6-3/4 inches square. The hour and temperature numbers are about 1/2 inch tall.

The clock in the 00937 uses a highly accurate analog quartz movement. You simply insert one AA (1.5V) battery, turn a knob to set the time, and that's all there is to clock setup. The battery is not included and must be obtained separately. We recommend using an alkaline battery. Although expected battery life is not specified, we believe from our experience with this type of clock that the battery should last a year or more.

If the thermometer reads incorrectly, its pointer may have moved during shipping. A knob on the back of the thermometer allows you to easily recalibrate the thermometer to a known-accurate one.

The 00937 is designed to hang on a wall or other vertical surface. For accurate temperature readings, be sure to mount the instrument in a location where it will not be exposed to direct sunlight or other direct heat sources. Also, if you will be using the 00937 outdoors, select a location where the instrument will be sheltered from direct precipitation.

Note on Using the 00937 Outdoors: When the temperature is expected to fall below freezing, you may want to bring the 00937 indoors. This is because in low temperatures, an alkaline battery may not provide enough current to power the clock motor, in which case the clock will lose its accuracy. If you wish, you may want to try replacing the alkaline battery with a lithium battery and see how the clock operates in the cold. Lithium batteries generally work down to about -40°F/C.
