The Acu-Rite 00850 Easy Read Magnifying Rain Gauge is a large rain gauge that's easy to install. The 00850 rain gauge is constructed of heavy-gauge transparent plastic. It is 2-3/4 inches wide and 1-1/2 inches deep at the top and tapers down to about 1-7/8 inch wide and 1-1/8 inches deep at the bottom of the rain receptacle. The front of the receptacle is semicircular (this is why it magnifies when there's water in it), and the back is flat.

To mount the 00850, you can simply insert the integral pointed extension at the bottom of the rain receptacle into the ground. The extension also has two keyhole slots for securing the rain gauge to a fence by means of screws or nails (not included). For accurate readings, be sure to select a location away from buildings, trees, and other obstructions.
