The Acu-Rite 00809 Rain Boss is a big, colorful rain gauge that's easy to mount and read. The day-glo orange cylinder inside the transparent outer cylinder makes the water level easy to see, and the inch numbers on the outer cylinder are bold and over 3/4 inch tall for easy reading, even from a distance. (The 1/4 and 1/2 inch designations near the bottom of the outer cylinder are about 1/4 inch tall.) There are actually three scales on the outer cylinder, so you'll be able to read the Rain Boss from virtually any direction.

To install the 00809 Rain Boss, you take the plastic cover off of the top of the rain gauge and remove the white garden stake that's packed inside the orange cylinder. You then insert the stake into the bottom of the rain gauge as shown on the package. Finally, you insert the stake into the ground. For accurate readings, be sure to select a location away from buildings, trees, and other obstructions.
