The 00739 Acu-Rite Wireless Remote Temperature Sensor is used with a variety of Acu-Rite weather-monitoring equipment that accommodates multiple remote sensors. The 00739 remote sensor features a water-resistant case, its own LCD display for local temperature viewing, and a detachable, submersible probe on a 10-foot (3-meter) wire. The sensor can be mounted on a wall or placed on a shelf, table, or desk. 

If you have an Acu-Rite 00737 Wireless Weather Station or an Acu-Rite 00734, 00735, or 00736 Wireless Thermometer and you need an optional remote temperature sensor or two, you won't have to choose between a sensor with an LCD display, one with a probe and an LCD display, and one with neither. That's because Acu-Rite makes it easy with a single, universal model--the 00739--that works in virtually any location, indoors or outdoors.

This water-resistant sensor can be wall-mounted via its detachable mounting bracket or placed on a flat surface. The sensor has both an integral LCD temperature display for local viewing (selectable for °F or °C) and a detachable, submersible probe on a 10-foot wire. Use the sensor without the probe to monitor indoor or outdoor air temperature, or attach the probe and use the sensor to monitor the temperature in a pool, spa, aquarium, or pond, or in soil.

The 00739 remote sensor can transmit up to 100 feet (30 meters) without outside interference, i.e., in an open area. Operating temperature range of the remote sensor is -58° to +158°F (-50° to +70°C).

When outdoor temperatures reach -12°F (-24°C), the manufacturer recommends that you bring the 00739 remote sensor indoors and attach its probe to monitor outdoor temperature by placing the probe out a window. Really cold weather can cause a remote sensor's LCD display and batteries to freeze and malfunction (this is true of any brand of remote sensor).

The 2 required AAA (1.5V) batteries are included. The sensor displays a low-battery indication when its batteries become weak. The batteries supplied with the sensor are "super heavy duty," but we strongly recommend alkaline cells at replacement time.

• The range of the remote sensors is approximately 100 feet in open air.  The range will be reduced somewhat passing through normal walls, but it usually isn't a problem.  Steel walls or siding may block the signal entirely, in which case you may need to use the wire probe attachment to get around the problem.
• If you live in a climate where it gets very cold outside, it is recommended that you place the remote indoors and run the included probe wire outdoors to measure outdoor temperature.  The LCD on the remote, and the batteries in the remote do not perform well below -12°F (-24°C).   
• The display is not illuminated.  It is not readable in the dark.
