Chaney Instrument took a new approach with the Acu-Rite 00616 Wireless Weather Forecaster. They asked their customers what features they most often wanted from their instruments, and created an instrument that displayed that information prominently at the top of the display, available at a glance. The result is the 00616, with a weather forecast icon prominently displayed in the upper left window, and outdoor temperature displayed in large, bold characters at the top right of the unit.

Forecaster. A weather forecast icon will be displayed in the forecast window, based on barometric pressure changes and outdoor temperature. The icon represents the weather likely to occur locally in the next 12 to 24 hours. Acu-Rite has a new patent pending technology designed into the 00616 weather forecaster. All weather forecasters rely on changes in barometric pressure to predict the weather, but barometric pressure changes are not the same depending on your location and altitude. In order to forecast more accurately based on barometric pressure changes, a profile of actual data at your location must be used to calibrate the forecaster. When batteries are installed in the Acu-Rite 00616, it profiles barometric pressure changes for 14 days in order to characterize your location. During this time, a "learning mode" icon will be displayed. Once the automatic profiling is complete, the Acu-Rite 00616 will be calibrated to provide a superior weather forecast. 

Temperatures. Outdoor temperature is prominently displayed in the upper right portion of the display window in bold, highly readable 3/4 inch numbers. You may choose temperature in °F or °C. Also displayed in the upper window are a signal strength display, indicating the strength of the signal received from the remote wireless temperature sensor, and a low battery icon. 

Below the outdoor temperature display is the indoor temperature display. Indoor temperature is displayed in 5/8 inch numbers. At the bottom left of the display area are displays for high and low outdoor temperature reached within the last 24 to 48 hours, in 5/16 inch characters.
