| Different types, sizes, and
weights of meat cuts often make it difficult to determine the correct
temperature and length of cooking time. But now the Acu-Rite 00724 digital
programmable meat thermometer makes it easy. Simply insert the metal probe
into the meat, select the appropriate MEAT and PREPARE settings on the
thermometer, and set the alarm. When the alarm sounds, your meat is
done. The PREPARE (doneness) settings follow USDA internal temperature
recommendations for lamb, poultry, veal, ground beef, beef, and pork.

What could be easier? Flip a switch for
temperature readout in either °F or °C.
Insert the thermometer's probe into the meat.
Push a button to select the type of meat you're cooking: lamb, poultry,
veal, ground beef, beef, or pork. Push another button to select the
desired PREPARE setting: RARE, MEDIUM RARE, MEDIUM, or WELL for beef,
lamb, or veal, or DONE for the other meats. Then push the ALARM SET button
to turn the alarm on. When the alarm sounds, your meat will be cooked to
its precise USDA-recommended internal temperature.
In addition to its meat
settings, this thermometer also features a handy USER setting for
additional cooking applications. This is selected via the MEAT button and
lets you program the alarm temperature for dishes other than meat. The
factory-preset alarm temperature for the USER setting is 160°F, but you
can adjust it up or down in 1° increments to the correct temperature for
whatever dish you're cooking. This is done via the MEMORY, +, and -
buttons, and you can store the USER alarm temperature in memory until you
need to change it.
Featuring a heat-resistant
stainless steel probe on an extra long stainless steel wire, this compact
(4 inches/102 mm tall) thermometer has a wide temperature measurement
range of +32° to +392°F (0° to +200°C). Flip down the integral stand
to place this unit on a countertop, or attach it to a metal (steel)
surface by means of its double magnets. The large LCD display shows the
MEAT and PREPARE settings, an ALARM indication if the alarm is on, the
temperature at which the alarm will sound, and the actual temperature of
the cooking meat.
The thermometer includes the
required AAA (1.5V) battery and has a POWER ON/OFF switch to maximize
battery life. Please be aware that this thermometer is designed for use in
conventional ovens only--not microwaves, deep fryers, barbeque grills,
etc. Also, the maximum temperature for which the oven is set must not
exceed the thermometer's +392°F (+200°C) maximum measuring limit or the
durability and longevity of the probe and wire will be compromised.
If you are looking for a
functionally similar digital thermometer with probe that can be used in a
barbeque grill, deep fryer, or smoker as well as in an oven, please check
out the Acu-Rite 00667 and 00648 Digital Cooking Thermometers on this
website. The 00647 features programmable meat settings like the 00724,
while the 00648 has a countdown timer instead. |
